На днях на треке концерна Volkswagen Group в присутствии представителей Германского союза технического надзора (TUV) и Книги рекордов Гиннесса на новом супер-каре Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport был установлен рекорд скорости для серийных автомобилей — 431 км/час.

Заезды проводились в две стороны, GPS показал 427, 933 км/ч при разгоне в одну сторону и 434, 211 км/ч в другую. Конечном результатом считается среднее арифметическое: 431 км/ч. Инженеры Bugatti признались, что очень довольны таким раскладом, так как рассчитывали на цифру 425 км/ч. Мощность двигателя Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport увеличена до 1200 л.с., а максимальный крутящий момент составляет 1500 Нм. Потенциал автомобиля уже продемонстрирован, но для машин, поступающих в продажу, максимальную скорость ограничат на уровне 415 км/ч - большую могут не выдержать шины.

Помимо двигателя переработано и шасси, в первую очередь ради более безопасного пилотирования на высоких скоростях: слегка увеличен ход подвески, установлены более мощные стабилизаторы и гоночные амортизаторы. Боковое ускорение Veyron Super Sport может достигать 1.4G. Кузов доработан с целью увеличения аэродинамической эффективности и поддержания идеального баланса в любой ситуации.

Самые заметные отличия от обычного Veyron: удлиненна крыша, вместо выступающих воздухозаборников на крыше появилось два треугольных NACA duct. Передние воздухозаборники увеличены. Сзади появился двойной диффузор и новые выхлопные трубы. Измененная структура волокон карбонового монокока обеспечивает ему максимальную жесткость, безопасность и уменьшенный вес. Внешние кузовные панели выполнены полностью из карбона. По желанию клиента они могут быть неокрашенными.

The car potential has already been shown, but for the cars which are going on sale, the maximum speed will be limited at level 415 km/h – the higher one tyres can not sustain.

Besides the engine the chassis has been elaborated too, first of all for the sake of more safe piloting on high speeds: the suspension travel has been slightly increased, more powerful stabilizers and racing decelerator have been set. Sideway acceleration of Veyron Super Sport can reach 1.4G. The body has been refined for the purpose of increase in aerodynamic efficiency and maintenance of ideal balance in any situation.

The most appreciable differences from usual Veyron: roofing is longer, instead of outstanding air inlets on roofing there are two triangular NACA duct. Forward air inlets are bigger. Behind there are a double liquid spray diffuser and new exhaust pipes. The changed structure of fibers of carboniferous monocook provides it the maximum rigidity, safety and the reduced weight. External body panels are made completely of carbon. According to the will of a client they can be unpainted.
